IM Basketball, Win 38-37.
We started out the game and totally dominated. We were up 24-10 at one point. The second half came, and the starters took a break, and unfortunately things started to go wrong. Once the lead shrunk to 6, the starters went back in. The other team started to get to the foul line and grab offensive rebounds. All of the sudden it was 28-30, and we were losing. We had to call a timeout to get the our offense and defense straightened up. We came back in, and although there were a few bad shots and defensive mishaps, some clutch shooting (3 pointers and freethrows) got us back into the game. Two freethrows locked it up, and we won 38-37 for Rominstar's first win. I didn't have as many freethrows as last time, in fact I had none, but I shot 5-7 on 3 pointers and finished with 19 again. We gotta get back to work for our next game.

The Rest of the Day
I woke up early to go to pre-cal. Then I went back to sleep. Me and Drea tried that Bene Pasta place down at the Student Center, it was sooo good. haha. I also lost my room key, which sucks, cus I had to buy a new one for $25. That could've gone to something else more useful, like food, to survive, haha. Oh well. I am excited though that my last class tomorrow is cancelled, so I get to relax a little earlier.

Week 3, spring quarter

New Basketball Season
Team Rominstar, we're a combo of basketball players from around middle earth, mainly rohan, calmindon and evenstar. We had our first game on wednesday 1/21/09. Didn't turn out the way we hoped, but it's all a learning experience, we'll get better. We were missing a starter (Aren) and a strong backup guard (David). We started out hanging with the other team, who had 2 pretty good players. Our role players were tough, unfortunately theirs were a little tougher, and one of our best players, Jon, wasn't given an inch to move free. They had us pretty defensively locked down. I only shot 2 of 10, (two 3 pointers), but i did get to the line 15 times, making 13 of those freethrows (most freethrows i've ever shot). When our second unit came in, they played tough, but we just didn't have a good shooting night. I had 19 points, and Jon had 6 points, unfortunately we didn't have enough fire power to overcome a 31-45 defeat. Our next game is on wednesday 1/28 at 10:30 against the free agent Merage09 team.

School
Schools been alright. I have a lot of homework, which is something i didn't have a lot of during the fall quarter. I'm getting used to it, but I've been tired. I really wish that our grades didn't rely on tests so much, like back in high school, when everything was classwork and homework based, haha. Oh well, gotta get on with it.

Andrea
Michelle V. asked some questions about relationships today, and asked me and Andrea if we fought a lot over big issues. When I really thought about it, we don't, its just little things that we end up forgetting in a few hours anyway. This made me realize that Andrea and I truly are a great couple. I love her.

I've started to let myself go, well, at least starting today. I didn't realize that throughout the day, I had been eating all these things that weren't very good for me. I ate over 2500 calories, haha, i usually don't get near 2000. haha. So that means I have to go to the arc soon, probably this weekend.

So Nicole and Ying and co. (haha) are in La Jolla for the John Legend concert this weekend, so Andrea and I are going to get a chance to have a nice weekend all to ourselves to hang out. Tomorrow we're planning to go to California Pizza Kitchen in Fashion Island with Phi, so that's going to be fun. Today Andrea and I had an In n'Out date with a couple episodes of One Tree Hill. I have a lot of homework, but it's a 3 day weekend, so I have a little extra time to have fun. Overall, this weekend should be fun and productive.

Wednesday was the Intramural's meeting. I started an intramural basketball team for winter quarter. Our name is team Rominstar. We're playing 5-on-5 intermediate all men's basketball. Our first team meeting is on Monday, and our first game is Wednesday, 1/21 at 10:30pm at the arc, so come out and support us.

This 3 day weekend is going to be a nice break, even though there is still homework. I'm going to enjoy it.

Week 1 Is Over

Week one is done, ten more to go. So I only have one class on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Then 3 consecutive classes between 11-3:20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And 2 discussions between tuesday and friday. Not a bad schedule at all. But, in return, I've been given a ton of homework, that I'm not used to. I spent 6 hours on homework in the past 2 days, and I'm not even halfway done. I guess this is what they meant by "for every 1 hour of class, an average student gets 2 hours of homework." I thought they were just kidding.

Money and Stuff
I bought a new nike watch this past week, tryna get something that was sporty and classy at the same time. I also wanted to get a new nike belt, but it's something like $50. So I'll wait. I'm also trying to get a car down here in so-cal after spring break, but we'll see how that goes. I did get a huge deal at PacSun today though. I saw a jacket a while back there, I liked it, but it was 70. I waited, and it went down to 40, then 50% off of 40 today. Then the guy at the counter scans it when I buy it, and it's actually 70% off. So I copped it for 13 bucks.

Went to Fashion Island today, and got that deal ^. It was warmer than usual, and so we went to Starbucks for some lemonade. It was a good day. Got back, ate dinner, worked on some homework. Got to studying and homework for a few hours, and still got at least a few more hours to go. Going to finish that tomorrow and watch a movie right now.

Overall, it's been an eventful first week back. I'm just trying to get through these 10 weeks (I can't wait for spring break).

Last Full Day At Home

Golf

I'm an avid golfer, if you can even call me that. I haven't seriously played since freshman year. I played with my dad, his friend, and my brother today for my dad's birthday present. We played a "best ball" match, (don't ask, too much detail, haha). We (my dad and I as a team) made a bet against my brother and my Uncle Chris (haha, chris and chris). It was 10 dollars goes to the winning kid, and my brother and I made a 1 dollar sidebet. So we started off being pretty even on the first couple of holes, then on like the 5th hole, I hit a great tee shot just to the right of the green into the rough. I went up there, my dad gave me some reminders on the swing, and I shot my short chip onto the green. I thought it was going to go way past the hole, but.... 1 bounce.... 2 bounces... and it jumped right into the hole! haha, the 2nd birdie of my life. And I kept the ball, (my first birdie was a long putt in florida, and I hit that ball into the water on the next hole...). In the end, it wasn't enough, and my brother called it... they beat us on the very final hole by 1 stroke, haha. So, my brother wins 11 dollars, and props from me, but I still had the highlight of the day with my hit, haha. Seriously, it looked like something out of a videogame, haha.

After
I came home, relaxed for about an hour, went to dinner, came home, took down the Christmas tree, and hung out with Tristan. I'm webcamming with Andrea right now, and I can't wait to see her tomorrow! I also changed my flight, to give me a little extra time with my family at home.

Tomorrow
In the morning, I'm going out to eat dim sum with my family, then going to spend time with them at the little shopping center and the market. At about 1:00, I'll probably head home, get everything ready to go, pack up, and head to the airport. I also got a plane ride with Andrea! First plane ride together, haha. Head back to school, (probably won't be able to get in my intramural basketball papers until monday morning), and just spend the rest of the night relaxing, and preparing for school the next morning, (ahh! 8am classes, like high school all over again. haha, more motivation to wake up early? and it's only for 10 weeks, so not so bad, thats like 30 8am classes). Ok, time to get ready for tomorrow, it's gonna be a long day.
Bowling.

Ok, so I haven't had a good bowling game in about 6-8 years, when I was actually into it. I had my own shoes and ball and everything. haha. Anyway, I remember when I was little, and in a bowling league, I bowled a 120, and it was like the coolest thing in the world at the time. I thought I was gonna go pro (haha, yeah right). Then when I was about 13, I bowled a 172 (3 strikes in a row between trips to the food stand, haha.) I was completely amazed at that. Then between then and now, it was a big deal if I could even break 100, so my expectations were completely low coming into today. I started my first game with a strike, a few spares, and another strike. Towards the end, I hit 3 strikes in a row, 2nd time in my life. haha. Next thing you know, my score says 190, and I think to myself "how is that even possible". I end the second game with a 141, and 2 strikes in a row using a double rotation throw and a pink 8 pound ball for the last frame. Even though it was probably the greatest bowling day I'll ever have, there's still no chance of me going pro.

First Entry: 08, truly a year of change.

2008 has past, and 2009 is here. In the past year a lot's changed, too many to remember, but here are some.

World
- We have a new president, and he's black, which is a huge change. And who said we weren't ready for a black president, "we just had a retarded one" (Chris Rock). haha. Hopefully things will change with him around.
- Gas prices started to drop like crazy toward the end of the year, too bad i was in school and car-less.
- Economy is crap, I mean Mervyn's closed, hahaha.
- Thats all i can think of.

School
- Went to DECA State competition early in the year.
- I graduated from high school, got into UC Irvine, and after a long summer, I moved over 400 miles away to so-cal for college.

Sports
- Had a great final season with EDEN, better experience than I would have had on Var.
- Went out with 1 tournament championship in the final season, and a hot shooting and strong defensive streak.
- Played my first intramural season. Playing ball here at college is a great way for me to measure where I am, and what I need to work on.

Personal
- Made new friends, kept old ones.
- Had my 2 year anniversary with Andrea, still going strong.
- I turned 19 (So old...).
- Got my first REAL job over the summer, and for only working their 2 1/2 months, I made pretty good bank.
- For the first year, I realized that I'm no longer a kid anymore, and people won't treat me like it (I realized it when my brother got a gift in the mail, and I got a bill, hahah.)
- Since I've been gone at college, family in my generation has been getting engaged, having twins, and whole lot of other stuff that make me realize my age, and makes me realize that I have to start becoming more mature.
